Summer is almost here, this is the place to go to for a quick breeze. I love their fruits and cream for $5. The owners and their staffs are super cool.. They usually have their Mondays for break and inventory, so be sure to get your cravings done on Sundays!

Halo. Halo. Probably the best in town! We went here based on a recommendation and loved the Filipino icy, milky, fruity, beany dessert known as halo-halo (mix-mix)! Don't get thrown-off that there are no Filipinos making the tasty goodness in the back... it's the real deal!! My son loved his bubble-gum shaved ice and his blueberry smile proved it. We'll definitely be back. Tip: They have a buy-5-get-1-free punch card for halo-halo, too. That'll take me about a week!

My first time trying halo halo! I love it. It sounds funny but tastes out of this world. It's different from the boba tea craze. Ube ice cream was insanely good! I want more.

Okay, real Hawaiian shaved ice is hard to come by, but they do an excellent job here. It is called OHANA and it is family owned. When you come here you are welcomed in as a part of the family! It's got a nice Hawaiian surf shack theme, but is also extremely homey. Sitting in there we really felt like we belonged and were part of the family. The owner was so friendly, welcoming and helpful! She offered us samples and suggested items off the menu for us based on our taste preferences. She was very patient while we decided off the multitude of variety they have! I was truly impressed by the quantity and quality you get here! I had The Whiz which is my personal favorite topped with Hawaiian cream. My fiancee had a cream and strawberry fresh fruit bowl with tiger's blood shaved ice! I tried some of his. Next time I am going to have a hard time deciding what to get because I LOVE the Whiz but that fruit and cream was dreamy. I will be back VERY soon!

I've never really tried Hawaiian shaved ice before but when I did I was told to go here and I was definitely NOT disappointed! Atmosphere is homely and family oriented with all the pictures of customers and friends and etc. The people and staff were very accommodating as well despite the masses of people coming in all the time! Very nice with big smiles on their faces and will help you out by adding more Hawaiian cream or syrup on your shaved ice. Also their halo-halo is simply DELICIOUS! I've had a few around town from little Filipino and asian restaurants and have to say theirs is the best of the best! Definitely come here at least once a week if I can and will continue to! Great place, delicious food and drinks, amazing people, what else could you ask for?

I was here on a nice Sunday around 2:30. I came here because someone said they have spam musubi and they don't. It was also at least 85 degrees in there and the employees were jus going super slow. Apparently they have really good shaved ice but I didn't order anything after having my hopes crushed and having to wait just to ask a question.

Our family's fave spot to cool down after a hot day in the pool or beach. So many flavors and fresh fruit toppings to choose from that every visit is like our first. I like ube ice cream w shaved ice flavor lychee & coconut while the kids mixes up fresh fruits that compliments different shaved ice flavors. Friendly staff and very relaxed atmosphere.

Ohana' has the best homemade food! It feels like you are in Moms kitchen and she cooks to order. Exceptionally friendly update atmosphere that has great Italian ices ( my sons favorite place to go on a hot day) but don't miss out on the EXCEPTIONAL Food regardless of how cold or hot the weather is. They are truly a 10+!!

Wanted to write a follow up on a review posted by a Stephanie T who gave it a 2 star rating. If you wanted fast food, you should have gone up the street to MC D's. Hawaiian is all about laid back. No Rush , No Problem. You can make Spam Musubi at home, Try doing that with ICE, too bad you were in such a rush you might have enjoyed the Hawaiian Shaved Ice. Try things before you write hurtful reviews and damage a business reputation on a SOMEBODY TOLD ME THEY HAD SPAM MUSUBI

OMG! This place is so cute! This place offers a plethora of goodies for your taste buds and tummy! Specifically on this visit, I was really craving Halo Halo and I heard Ohana Hawaiian Shaved Ice offers a pretty good one. For those who do not know, Halo Halo is a traditional Filipino dessert that is cold and refreshing (perfect for our tropical weather here in Florida) and literally translates to "mix-mix" in Tagalog (main dialect of the Philippines). Halo halo is usually a mixture of sweet preserved beans (red beans, chick peas), coconut meat (macapuno), jackfruit (langka), pounded dried rice (pinipig), sweet purple yam (ube), cream caramel flan (leche flan), shreds of sweetened plantain (saba), lots of shaved or crushed ice, milk (whole, condensed or coconut milk) and topped with ice cream (typically ube ice cream) all mixed up together before eating it. Of course, this is just a basic halo-halo recipe. Other versions add and/or remove ingredients, change the ice cream flavor, etc. Well of course I had to go check out OHSI's version for myself. And I have to say, I wasn't disappointed. Their version is like an updated version of my Filipino childhood dessert. It is a smorgasbord of many flavors, textures and ingredients that will intrigue and surprise you! The owner created her own "secret" recipe for the milk used in her halo halo and she adds these little gems of slightly tart liquid balls that explode with the sweetness in each bite. Heaven... 5 STARS

My favorite is the Ohana salad with chicken salad. It's the best in Atlantic Beach. Also love the pimento cheese with jalapeños and pita chips. The hawaiian ice is also amazing cool and sweet. Make you feel like a kid in the summertime.

Snowcones are amazing and the people who own this place are so nice. Staff is very attentive too. Would have given them a five, but my crabcake sandwich was just average. Other people ordered quesadillas and the grilled cheese which they raved about.

This little spot is so cute! It reminds me so much of Hawaii and even has local Hawaiian goodies! The owner is very friendly and makes the experience worthwhile. She actually has son living in Hawaii so she has a good idea of how shaved ice is supposed to be. I had the melona, strawberry, & mango sugar free shaved ice with ice cream. Very tasty. The owner actually makes some of her own flavors like melona which is very yummy! They also have halo halo (a Filipino dessert). I don't eat it myself but my family raved about them from here. I give it 4 stars only because the ice still isn't as fine as it is in Hawaii (but Hawaii probably has some really special ice machines). Overall, great place, great shaved ice, great service, & great atmosphere!

Ohana is definitely a popular place, the shave ice is pretty delicious, lots of flavors, and they serve Halo Halo (yummy Filipino treat). I LOVE Hawaii, was obsessed eating shave ice there with my husband on our recent honeymoon, in comparison to authentic Hawaiian shave ice, this place comes pretty close. The ice isn't as finely shaved and "powder like" but still yum. Unfortunately, they are missing some pretty vital Hawaiian ingredients, ie: ling-hui powder, azuki beans. As for their food, I've had the crab cakes and they are yummy, possibly the best I've had at the beach. A big disappointment here is that they don't serve SPAM! That's HUGE in Hawaii. They seem to just add grilled pineapples to a regular menu item and then label it as "Hawaiian". No huli huli chicken, no peel and eat shrimp, no macadamia nut ice cream, I could go on and on. They could up their Hawaiian food game..... by a lot. Other than that, they definitely have the Aloha spirit :)

Love this place for lunch. This is a family run restaurant. owner is great. Her kids are often working the counter. Fun place for kids they love the Hawaiian ices.

Ohana is a great place for shaved ice, and I don't even really like shaved ice that much. They try to do natural flavorings whenever possible and are family owned and operated. Staff are always friendly and helpful. The interior is bright, clean and a surprise, considering the location. They have a surfer/beach vibe. They have a few games for the kiddies, reading material and comfy seating. My favorite is the Tiger Blood. Sugar free flavors are tasty for those with health concerns.

"Ohana means family," as Stitch says. You will feel like you walked into Lilo's sister Nani's snack shop. The only thing missing is location. Would be better if it was within true walking distance to the beach. Still, there is a surfers vibe to the store with stacks of Void waiting to be read. If you know anyone who has been to Hawaii, take them here, definitely. They have this sweet Hawaiian laid back atmosphere. I've never cared to visit Hawaii, but after coming here last night I feel I want to vacay in the land of Aloha, throw own my grass skirt on and sway my hips to a ditty on a ukelele. They have an endless collection of flavors for shaved ice. They even serve halo halo (Filipino shaved ice dessert with sweet beans and coconut milk). As for the shaved ice, I got the Tiger Blood (Winning!) with Blue Raspberry. My son got Tiger Blood, Root Beer, and Hurricane. My niece had 3 flavors, including Cotton Candy (which I regret not getting). There is no corn syrup used in their shaved ice, which is great. As of yesterday, they told me they will be adding musubi to the menu. (Musubi is like a spam onigiri, with spam, rice, and held together with seaweed wrapped around it.) On the current menu, it's a small handful of items, including crab cakes. I got the crab cake sandwich. I'm not a big fan of crabcake, but the kind here are not very fishy tasting and are pretty good. You have a choice of plantains or tortilla chips with a mango sauce (get it sweet, mild, or spicy). I chose the chips with mild mango sauce. The mango sauce was packed with tangy sweet flavor to complement the mild spice. The lady that works here adjusts the heat according to your liking. They treat everyone here like friends and family, so there is a nice warm ambiance to the little shop. Writing this review, I'm starting to crave the mango sauce and shaved ice again. This is my 550th review! Aloha!

Please change your hours on Monday to closed bcuz I'm here n I want halo halo. I have come here twice and both times they were closed FML! Ok i lied, i been here 4 times but the 1st two times they was closed. If it's raining. it's buy one get one free. Ever since I heard they serve Halo-Halo (a delicious filipino dessert concoction) I've wanted to go. I finally got to try it and the only thing that is missing is Lecheflan. The staff here is super dee duper nice. I talked with owner added them on instagram and we just laughed and shot the shhh. They have walls of pictures of customers and my friend sent me a pic of my pic on the wall....yassss! I had to get on there. If this place wasn't so flippin far and open on Mondays i would go once a week. If you like desserts this place is worth a spot. Like Julie A. says Ohana means family and it feels like home at Ohana.

I live in Tampa, but since I heard so much about this place from my friends, I had to make it a priority. I visited Hawaii last summer and had authentic shave ice, so my expectations were pretty high. If you slap "Hawaii" in your name, you can't just have authentic Hawaiian food; you also have to have the aloha spirit. This place DEFINITELY does. It's a very casual hang out with a beach/surf atmosphere. The customer service really is aloha spirit. They helped us to decide what to order, and continuously offered us free samples. They went above and beyond the courteous, and straight into the friendliness, starting conversations and just being open with us. There were so many choices of flavors that I had no idea where to start. So I had a friend order for me: tiger's blood and dreamsicle, ice cream on the bottom, syrup on top. Wow! So good! The syrup is just a condensed milk mix, but you really cannot go without it. I can't say that it compares to the shave ice I tasted in Hawaii, but it's pretty close. The ice could be a lot finer and powdery, but it beats regular sno cones. It really is an ohana in Ohana.

If you are a fan of Hawaiian Shaved Ice then you must eat here! The crab cakes and salsa n chips are pretty good too. So if you're ready for a cool down on a hot summer day or any time then Ohana Hawaiian Shaved Ice is the place to be. The prices are low considering the GREAT service and the deliciousness that is Ohana.

Verrry cute shop! Certainly doesn't look like it's a place that serves food or or other things to consume-- looks more like a place to chill out for a bit in the midst of a hot sunny day by the beach... like a family hut or something on an actual island. Lots of bright, summery pastel colors, along with grassy and wood decor, and pictures of several locals posted on the wall that have experienced this place. The owner is a super sweet lady. One thing about this place though is that not only is it small, but there is very limited seating. I wouldn't come with more than 4 people. At the same time, I like the fact that it's small because that's what gives it such a laid-back, home-like feel. Four of us had lunch there-- I had the chicken quesadilla with pineapple, dipped in their homemade honey mustard sauce and I really liked it. Mine came w/plantains and although they were good, they were a little too sweet for my taste. I also had half of my friend's chicken and pineapple sandwich on Hawaiian bread, and I liked it too, although I liked my quesadilla a bit better. Chips and mango salsa were pretty good. Peach tea... delicious. As far as dessert/cold snack items go, I haven't tried any of it -- I know, weird huh, with it being mostly a shaved ice/smoothie place -- so I can't say anything about that. They have a TON of flavors to choose from though, and I'm eager to try them for next time. For those of you who are familiar with the Filipino culture, they serve halo-halo here, and there's also someone who is selling ube cupcakes for donations to a charity... I bought one and that ish is goooood. I just now offered to share some with my dad and I'm glad I didn't. (Sorry if you're reading this babe... I know we're on a diet....... but I'm supporting my culture..........) Anyway, based on the atmosphere, decor, area, service, and what I had, I would definitely come back.

It was soo hot out and the smoke from those swap fires was blowing into town. Somehow, I remembered that I bookmarked this place, so we went. The two women who were working there were soooo nice. They helped us pick flavors, which there are many.... almost too many. I got a shaved ice and my wife got one with cream, which means soft serve ice cream under the shaved ice. Both were awesome. I would recommend this place. I've had shaved ice in Kauai, and this tasted the same.... so go and enjoy a tasty treat.

Locally owned. Ohana is a great stop on a hot summers day. Always refreshing and have not been disappointed yet. They have so many choices, I usually start for them listed creations and just try a different flavor every time. Price is reasonable and they even have a bike rack which is nice when you beach cruise up.

So refreshing! I had the sugar free watermelon and pineapple with fresh raspberry topping, only $3 and it's an ample amount. Nothing is made with corn syrup and the sugar free doesn't taste too fake. Great customer service too!

Prices r a bit high for ice. But the place is nice for hanging out. i Like the topping selection. also, they serve actual food. so why not dine in, then order a nice dessert? Overall, not bad.

Very refreshing treat for a hot summer day! I played it safe and ordered a cherry shaved ice. I had a sample of the cake batter and it was also tasty. Because advertising works on me, I want to go back and try the "best" crab cakes, like the sign says in the window of this place. I would also try a more adventurous flavor of shaved ice too.

great dessert place with a different twist. they have so many different options and flavors. i got the mango with cream. DEEEEEElicious! i loved the fresh mangos and she gave me her suggestions for the best shaved ice flavors and the scoop of ice cream on the bottom was the icing on the cake! definitely coming back here EVERY TIME i travel to jacksonville for business! yum yum yum.

Wow Stacie G. and Stephanie T, what's with the reviews? Did you confuse a Hawaiian shaved ice place that serves great food with a Hawaiian restaurant? Do you ping Outback for not having meat pies or Vegemite ? This place is a gem. We went here for shaved ice and ended up having a great meal. The crab cakes are awesome and the soups are delicious! The owners couldn't be nicer. They make you feel like family. Seems to be really popular with the local crowd. Definitely give it a go.

Homey and cheesy at the same time, complete with surfer dude fixing some of the most delicious ice concoctions this side of Oahu. Had a peach something made with shaved ice, ice cream, peaches and other goodies that were out of this world! Will be back! Rock on, dude!

Ohana is awesome! I am not a big fan of Italian Ice, so I was leery when I tried Hawaiian shave ice. These guys made a believer out of me! It is creamier, more lush than regular and the flavors are amazing! Hello Dreamsicle and Bahama Mama! From now on, this is where we go for a treat. But beware, they are only open till 6pm. So I am thinking this could be what's for dinner??..... I haven't tried their Crab cakes yet, but I hear they are pretty darn good too. I think bomb diggity was the exact expression used. Well now, who could argue with that?

My visit commenced in June of 2012, I have been here at least 8 times and gone through two punch cards. This place is crack for me. It's a fond reminder of Waiola in Oahu. Oh man, it's so good and the owners are absolutely sweet as the flavors they sell! My hubs enjoyed the mangoes and cream, while I found my addiction to tyger's blood and dreamsicle. I will have to return at least 2 more times before my departure at the end of the month. Who knew I had to fly to the opposite end of the country to get great shaved ice?

  • Melissa H.

LOVE LOVE LOVE this place!!! Stumbled upon Ohana one afternoon and went back twice more that week! The flavor selection is awesome and some yummy combinations that are already concocted are great too! You cant beat the price and yes those crab cake sliders are soooooo yummy too. Met the owners and they are as sweet as pie and so laid back. A cool place to chill and they have sugar free options as well. My 5 year old loves this place too.

    (5)
  • Dawn L.

The ices here were mediocre. The flavorings are just mixtures of sugared syrups. The "secret" sauce is just condensed milk thats all it taste like... Nice atmosphere and great customer service.

Friendly, hospitable and welcoming place to get the best shaved ice! I always come here every time I visit my fam in Jacksonville and miss it every single time I go back home! My favorite flavor is the mango & cream

We were on a mission to find shave ice and Ohana was a little out of the way but after reading the reviews we decided to make a detour and drive the extra 14 miles to grab one of these treats before heading back to NSB. What a great find, family owned and operated they've been here for about 6 years and no doubt is a popular spot among the locals, the customer just kept pouring in I can't imagine how busy it can be during the summer months. The shave ice comes in (3) sizes: Small $2.00 Medium $3.00 Large $4.00 Lots of flavors to choose from including some customer driven concoctions, if I had to change anything it would be that the ice would be a little finer it's not as granular as a snow cone but not as soft as snow so the syrup doesn't blend in as well as it should, don't get me wrong it's delicious and so refreshing and I wanted another after I finish my small cup. I can't wait to return, this will definitely be a regular stop when we are in the area. The owner is so friendly and just a good person no wonder this place is so successful, it was nice to find that Ohana lives up to the reviews posted I can't imagine ever being disappointed here.

  • Bree H.

We stopped in here to enjoy a shaved ice and were a little disappointed and the ice wasn't quite shaved but rather finely crushed and rather crunchy. Shaved ice I have tried before is almost like snow. There also wasn't quite enough flavoring as the bottom of the cup was just plain ice. They do have an excellent selection of flavorings and were more then willing to make me something different - I asked for a blue Hawaiian flavored milkshake and even though it isn't something they normally do the owners daughter happily made it for me - and it was truly wonderful - I loved the little blue gummy shark she added to the whipped cream :) I have heard lot of good reports about their crab cakes and will certainly be back to try those another day. The store is quite small so there is not a lot of seating but the staff are wonderful and all happy and cheerful. Perfect place to get something to help you cool off on a hot day.

Not just about the ice. ....although they do have about 50 flavors. Interesting offering of salads and sandwiches. C.f. Ute place. Family owned and operated. And dont forget to try a crabcakeď

  • Kayla C.

Paradise in Atlantic Beach! I went here again tonight with my husband. I got the small Ohana salad with a crabcake, and we both also got ice. My salad was amazing as always - huge fresh pieces of mango, blackberries, raspberries, blueberries, and feta cheese. Super yummy side bread. And the crabcakes rock. I also had pineapples and cream ice, which was sooooo good. It had pineapple and coconut flavored ice, ice cream, Hawaiian cream, and big pieces of fresh pineapple. This place is awesome!! Highly recommend!

  • Matt M.

If you were to ask the question "Where do the locals go", this would be at the top of the list. Not only does it scream "locals only", but it serves crab cakes and a few other items, not just Hawaiian Shaved Ice. My usual.....Mango, Blueberry and Guava My kids usual....Cake Batter My youngest choice...Coconut, Pineapple and cream But try your own combinations and test the flavors, there are dozens of really good combinations. Plus, if you order a large, ask for a frequent rewards card that gets you free stuff after so many purchases.
